Hiking in Hong Kong: Best Trails for Every Level
Hong Kong is a hiker's paradise hiding in plain sight — over 40% of the city's land is designated country park, criss-crossed by 500km of well-marked trails ranging from gentle waterfront walks to serious mountain ascents. The Dragon's Back on Hong Kong Island consistently ranks among Asia's best urban hikes, an 8.5km ridge walk with sweeping views from Shek O to Stanley. The Wilson Trail crosses the entire territory over 78km, while MacLehose Trail winds through 100km of the New Territories' most dramatic scenery. Autumn (October–December) brings the best conditions — cool, clear skies, and lush post-typhoon greenery. Most trailheads are reachable by MTR and minibus.
