Lamma Island Day Trip: Hong Kong's Seafood Paradise
Just 30 minutes by ferry from Central, Lamma Island offers a world away from Hong Kong's urban intensity — a car-free sanctuary of fishing villages, seafood restaurants, hiking trails, and sandy beaches. Sok Kwu Wan's famous "Seafood Street" is lined with open-air restaurants whose tanks overflow with live fish, lobster, crab, and clams. The Lamma Fisherfolk's Village cultural centre adds historical context to this working harbour community. The two main villages, Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan, are connected by a scenic coastal hiking trail of approximately 1.5 hours through bamboo groves and panoramic sea views. Pack walking shoes, an appetite, and a willingness to slow down to island pace.
